In this article on money.cnn.com, they talk about the 10 best states for small businesses. I have recently moved to Nevada which happens to be #2 in the list. I knew it was good before I moved as I knew they had no taxes for small businesses, however the list is comprised of 29 criteria including healthcare, crime rates, labor, etc.
This really applies for me because my wife and I are starting a coulpe of small businesses, so the no state taxes is a good thing for us. Just last night we were talking about our mid and long terms goals, and our 2 year goal is to be financially independant.
The top 10 roundup is:
- South Dakota
- Nevada
- Wyoming
- Alabama
- Washington
- Florida
- Mississippi
- Colorado
- Texas
- Michigan
The complete list can be found here

I find it maazing that Washington State is on the top 10 and not Arizona. I moved from WA to do business in AZ, because WA is so small business unfriendly. Excited to see where your adventures in business take you!
Well, we didn’t move to Nevada because of the tax climate, but it will certainly help! We are starting a couple of internet businesses and my wife is thinking about starting up her candle business again, so we shall see where it takes us.
Thanks for the comment!
