So I’m reading the forums over at StevePavlina.com and came across this post where the author describes their conflict with the correlation between wealth and success. I thought about replying immediately in the forum, but thought it would be a good topic to blog about here; you know, being as this is a personal finance blog
Naturally most of us would logically say “no” to the question. Why though? Well, it all comes down to wealth being a (more or less) physical thing. More money, bigger house, more toys, etc., etc. Success on the other hand is a state of mind, a feeling of certain accomplishment, a checkmark on your achievement list. Certainly for some a specific monetary value will equate to success and for those wealth will equal success. For others it is becoming debt free, reaching a certain level in their company, or any number of other personal achievements. The question is very similar to the age old question “Does money equal happiness”.
So, does wealth=success? Absolutely…and absolutely not. As Woody Allen has said “Money is better than poverty, if only for financial reasons”.

Wealth has to do with money. Success has to do with yourself and your own goals. If your goals involve having lots of money, then success = wealth.
